Climate change is increasingly reshaping patterns of human mobility across the Caribbean. Rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation are forcing communities to adapt, relocate, and reimagine how they live and work.

Despite the scale of the issue, the conversation around climate-induced displacement remained fragmented and difficult to access.  

There was no central space to bring together research, policy, and regional dialogue.

The challenge was to design a website that could hold complexity without becoming inaccessible. The HMCCC (Human Mobility, Climate Change & Displacement) initiative needed a digital presence that could inform, convene, and sustain engagement across governments, researchers, and civil society, while remaining approachable and relevant.

This required balancing authority with openness.

AlphaNorth partnered with GIZ and the OECS Commission to establish a digital foundation for the HMCCC initiative. Our role was to create a platform that could function as both a knowledge repository and a catalyst for regional conversation, supporting long-term engagement around climate and mobility.

We designed and developed a dedicated digital platform with a clear information architecture, intuitive user experience, and flexible content management system. The site was structured to evolve alongside the initiative, supporting ongoing research, dialogue, and collaboration across stakeholders.
