Why We Built This
Across the Caribbean, more than ninety percent of goods are imported. Yet for consumers and businesses alike, shipping remains one of the most opaque, fragmented, and frustrating parts of daily life.

Costs are unpredictable, visibility disappears once packages leave the United States, and coordination between warehouses, carriers, customs brokers, and island agents is inconsistent at best. For entrepreneurs and small businesses, these challenges create compounding risks: inventory uncertainty, cash-flow strain, and operational inefficiency.

For consumers, shipping becomes a barrier rather than a bridge to access. ShipSmart was created to address this gap by building a single, reliable logistics layer that customers could trust.

The participant journey needed to extend far beyond the road, and the business required systems capable of supporting controlled access, high-volume transactions, and real-world fulfillment at scale.
The Gap We Identified
The challenge was not simply to move packages. It was to replace a broken system.

Caribbean shipping is traditionally managed through disconnected tools, manual processes, and informal coordination. Customers are often left without clear pricing, real-time updates, or accountability across the shipping journey.

There is no unified system to understand true landed costs before purchasing, and no central experience that ties together consolidation, freight, customs, and delivery.

ShipSmart needed to orchestrate all of this into one coherent experience without increasing complexity for the customer.
How We Approached It
AlphaNorth developed ShipSmart as a proprietary product, applying the same systems-level thinking we bring to client work. From the outset, ShipSmart was treated as infrastructure, not an application.

Every decision was guided by a clear philosophy: technology exists to serve business and human outcomes. If a process increased friction or failed under real-world conditions, it was redesigned or removed.

The focus remained on transparency, reliability, and scalability.

What We Built
We designed and delivered a technology-enabled logistics platform that centralizes the entire shipping journey. ShipSmart operates through a U.S.-based warehouse hub where customer packages are received, scanned, logged, and stored.

Customers can consolidate multiple purchases into a single outbound shipment, reducing freight costs and simplifying customs clearance. From there, ShipSmart coordinates freight with trusted carriers and manages the documentation required for island-specific customs processes.

Local agents handle customs clearance and delivery, operating under ShipSmart standards while remaining connected to a centralized system.
